地 点:老兽医楼145教室
报告提纲:
1. Initial emphasis on infectious diseases in livestock, reflecting veterinary medicine’s focus.
2. Continued emergence of new infections, despite notable successes (e.g., rinderpest eradication).
3. Introduction of quantitative methods into veterinary public health in the 1960s.
4. Variable expression of epidemiology in veterinary schools throughout the world in the 1970s, with teaching spread between parasitology, microbiology and animal husbandry, and with little quantitative (statistical) material.
5. Change in employment trends of veterinarians in the West towards companion animals (notably cats and dogs).
6. Emergence of chronic (non-infectious diseases) in companion animals, as serious veterinary challenges.
7. Increasing importance on estimation of the magnitude of the impact of disease risk factors.
8. Patchy teaching of veterinary epidemiology around the world in the 1970s.
9. Development of post-graduate courses in 1970s.
10. Emergence of statistical methods in 1970, although hampered by lack of data and databases.
11. Full development now, with modern computer technology, and widespread acceptance through Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine.
