报告人简介
Dr. Séamus Fanning is the Professor of Food Safety and Zoonoses and the Director of UCD-Centre for Food Safety (UCD-CFS), affiliated with the University College Dublin, Ireland. The UCD-CFS has existing and extensive collaborations with the Food Safety Department at Teagasc Food Research Centre-Ashtown, the US-Food & Drug Administration; the US Department of Agriculture, and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). Currently, Professor Fanning is the Editor of journal Research in Microbiology and is a member of the editorial boards of the following prominent International journals: Applied and Environmental Microbiology; Microbial Drug Resistance; FEMS Microbiology Letters; Foodborne Pathogens & Disease and the Journal of Food Protection; Veterinary Research; Veterinary Microbiology, etc. He published a number of high quality research papers (more than 226) in esteemed scientific journals, such as PLoS Genet (IF=8.167), PLoS Pathog. (IF=8.057), Emerg. Infect. Dis. (IF=7.327); Antimicrob. Agents Chemother. (IF=4.451); J. Antimicrob. Chemother. (IF=5.439).
Professor Fanning research interests include the application of molecular methods to Food Safety focusing on the control of zoonotic/non-zoonotic bacteria of importance to human health. A significant part of his work is related to the characterization of the genetic mechanisms contributing our understanding of how multiple drug resistance emerges in a variety of food-borne bacterial pathogens (including Yersinia, Salmonella, Escherichia coli and Campylobacter).
